Compose a Card 5

So I was outside yesterday, shoveling the last (better make that "most recent") 6 inches of snow from my driveway. The wind was blowing, even more snow was coming down and I realize there is a bird singing away in my front tree. Poor little thing, does it know something about the coming of spring that I don't? I can only focus on the 18" of snow on my deck that keeps me from filling the bird feeder. Sorry, little guy. Note to self: move bird feeders to somewhere I can get to them in massive snow.

Anyway, that's my inspiration for this week's Compose a Card.

Thanks for stopping by. I love to read your comments!

PTI February Blog Hop

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog. This is my first blog hop ever - so be gentle with me!

Nichole gave us a challenge during the February release. Our challenge was to visit the blog or gallery of any Design Team Member and choose an inspirational project to recreate in our own style.

Pick one PTI designer who inspires me? Are you kidding? That's like asking me to pick my favorite ...... chocolate! Darn close to impossible. Should I choose Betsy's attention to detail? How about Dawn's bright color pallette? There's always Lisa's classic clean style. And don't forget Mish's amazing embellishments. And that's not even half of the design team!

Decisions, decisions. After eating some chocolate (a decision I CAN make), I settled on a card that I just loved from the new releases. It's this beauty by Heather, one of my favorites.

I loved the use of Dot Spot for the background and the vase of flowers reminds me of an old Stampin' Up set that was my go-to set for a long time. Here's my version using a different color pallette (Actually inspired by a butterfly card Nichole did during the lead up to release day).

Thanks for stopping by.

Supplies:
Stamps: PTI Asian Fusion, Dot Spot
Cardstock: Ocean Tides, Ripe Avocado, Kraft

Compose A Card 4

I try to participate in at least one challenge a week. It helps me grow as a stamper by forcing me to try new colors, layouts and techniques. And it gives me a chance to put some ink to new stamps.

Here's my entry for the Compose a Card challenge. It's my first time for this one but it won't be the last. Lots of fun! Sorry the black in my photo looks a bit funky. It's much better in real life - I guess I need to work on my photography skills!

Supplies:
Stamps: PTI Turning a New Leaf, Mega Mixed Messages
Cardstock: Ripe Avocado, True Black, White
Patterned Paper: Black & White Basics
Punches: Stampin' Up oval and oval scallop
Other: Ripe Avocado Saddle Stitch ribbon, vintage buttons, Copic marker

Bloomin' Embellishments

Watching the Olympics and crafting! Is there a better way to spend a Saturday?

This is my submission for PTI's Embellishment challenge. Today's challenge was to design a floral embellishment, create a card using it and then make a sheet with 4 to 6 embellishments to share.

I also used one of the DT Color Favorites (Heather's combo) from earlier this week. This card uses Kraft, Melon Berry, Spring Moss and Vintage Cream. Love this combo. I'll definitely use it again.

In the spirit of this challenge, leave me a comment by 7:00 pm EST on Sunday to be entered into a contest for the sheet of embellishments seen in the photo.

Punches: Martha Stewart Lattice border punch, EK Success 1-3/4" circle punch, Fiskars 2" circle punch, Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio

DT Color Favorites

This won't happen often. Posting 3 days in a row. I have the snow to thank for that. I should have been at the gym tonight but they closed due to the weather. So I had a bit of time on my hands and decided to try one of the color favorite challenges. I was looking for a color scheme for a valentine and this fit the bill.

Supplies:
Stamps: PTI Background Basics Heart, Simple Valentine
Ink: Pure Poppy, Sweet Blush, Aqua Mist
Punches: EK Success Folk Heart Punches
Ribbon: Sweet Blush twill

Paint by Number Challenge - T-Z Palette

Here's my entry for today's PTI challenge. With the user name of "Zippy", my color palette was kraft, enchanted evening, spring rain, aqua mist and white. My first thought when I saw my colors was "Arrrggghhhh! What am I going to do with those colors!". Of course, it was 4:15 a.m. and the brain was not yet engaged. Once I woke up, "baby boy card" popped into my head.

Supplies:
Stamps: PTI Baby Button Bits, Daily Design Sentiments
Patterned Paper: Bitty Star Basics
Ink: Enchanted Evening, Dark Chocolate
Punches: Fiskars border punch
Other: Rustic twine, buttons
